August 2008 - For many years, Harmers Wood was a popular destination for illegal dumping of rubbish from old fridges, garden waste, tyres and commercial waste. After purchasing the woodland and quarries, the Trust begun the task of cleaning up the mess and safeguarding the wood from future dumping.

It took several years of work to raise the money, survey the area, plan and prepare the access into the quarry, removal of the rubbish and finally replacing with top soil to allow natural vegetation to take root.
